Olympiacos retain slim advantage

Olympiacos CFP maintained their one-point lead over Panathinaikos FC at the top of the table.

Olympiacos CFP kept their noses in front of championship rivals Panathinaikos FC at the top of the Hellenic National League with a 2-1 away win over Kallithea FC on Sunday.

Own goal
Olympiacos took the lead through a headed goal by central defender Spyros Vallas before Kallithea levelled on the hour through Achilleas Angelopoulos. However, eight minutes later an own goal by Giorgos Koulakiotis sealed a win for the league leaders.

González strikes
Panathinaikos FC remain in close pursuit after securing their ninth consecutive victory by defeating visiting Egaleo FC 2-0. Cyprus international Michalis Konstantinou opened the scoring and Ezequiel Gonález scored the second with a left-footed strike; his first goal since arriving in Greece.

PAOK tighten grip
FC PAOK maintained their grip on third with a 2-0 defeat of OFI Crete. Giasemakis Giasemi scored the first after excellent work by Christos Maladenis before Dimitris Salpingidis doubled the lead with a shot from long range.

Blushes spared
AEK Athens FC could even afford to miss a penalty as they secured their first victory under new coach Ilie Dumitrescu, beating FC Aris Thessaloniki 1-0. Vassilis Tsiartas was guilty of the 53rd-minute miss from the spot but Kofi Amponsah saved his blushes with a well-taken header.

Prolific Zaharopoulos
Promoted Halkidona FC secured their fourth successive win as they triumphed 1-0 at Ionikos FC with top-scorer Giorgos Zaharopoulos again on the scoresheet. Panionios NFC were equally impressive, winning 3-0 at Iraklis FC.

Other action
In Sunday's other action, Xanthi FC won 3-1 at Akratitos FC with Stelios Sfakianakis scoring the crucial third in stoppage time, while Proodeftiki FC secured a valuable 2-0 home win against Paniliakos FC.
