Vardar go Brazilian

Defending Macedonian champions FK Vardar have named Brazilian veteran Gildo Rodriguez as their new coach.

Gildo Rodriguez has been named the new coach of defending Macedonian champions FK Vardar. The 65-year-old Brazilian got off to the perfect start on Sunday when his team won 2-0 at home to city rivals FK Madzari Solidarnost 92.

Third coach
Rodriguez is Vardar's third coach this season, replacing Toni Jakimovski who had earlier succeeded Zoran Stratev. The club are fourth in the Macedonian First League.

Vast experience
The Vardar job is Rodriguez's first in Europe. However, the trainer has a wealth of experience having coached the Ivory Coast, Ghana, Liberia and Kuwait national teams as well as Brazilian sides SC Corinthians Paulista and CR Vasco de Gama.
