Zambrotta secures aggregate victory

Juventus FC drew 1-1 with Milan AC on Wednesday to secure a place in the Coppa Italia final.

Juventus FC drew 1-1 with Milan AC at a damp Delle Alpi stadium on Wednesday to secure a place in the Coppa Italia final with a 3-2 aggregate victory.

Constant downpour
Leading 2-1 from the first leg, Juventus left strikers Alessandro del Piero and David Trezeguet on the bench and a constant downpour and small crowd of 15,000 added to the low-key nature of the game.

Fine header
Milan took the lead in the 27th minute through a fine header from Spanish striker José Mari who rose well to connect with a high ball into the penalty area from Andrea Pirlo.

Brilliant equaliser
But Juventus's Italian international midfield player Gianluca Zambrotta put the home side back on level terms on the night with a superb strike as he cut in from the right flank and skipped past three defenders before firing a left-foot shot into the top corner.

Wasted chance
Milan's Spanish substitute Javier Moreno missed a great chance to take the game into extra time late on when he shot wide from point-blank range after a fine run and low cross from Brazilian Serginho.

Potential opponents
Juventus will face the winner of Thursday's semi-final second leg between Brescia Calcio and Parma AC. Hidetoshi Nakata was the architect behind Parma's first-leg victory, scoring the first goal in a 2-0 success.
