A 1-0 win against AC Sparta Praha on Saturday put FC Slovan Liberec back into title contention.
Four point gap
Václav Koloušek's 62nd-minute strike lifted Liberec within four points of leaders Sparta, and it was thoroughly deserved as the home side adapted better to the frosty conditions at the U Nisy stadium.
Liberec pour forward
Jan Nezmar put the ball over the Sparta crossbar twice in the first five minutes and Czech Republic goalkeeper Petr Cech had to be in exceptional form to dent Koloušek twice as Liberec threatened to overwhelm Sparta.
Hit on the break
Sparta had their moments with Pavel Zavadil causing plenty of problems for Liberec, but it was after a good spell of pressure from the visitors that Liberec scored the only goal of the game.
Koloušek powers home
Zavadil's shot had just cleared the Liberec crossbar when the home side immediately charged up the other end and scored. Koloušek powered his way up the field and slammed a fierce drive past Cech after 62 minutes.
Michalík sent off
Things were to get worse for UEFA Champions League contenders Sparta when they had Rastislav Michalík sent off after receiving a second yellow card with twelve minutes remaining.
