Relegation-threatened 1. FC Kaiserslautern have signed attacking midfield player Ferydoon Zandi from second division VfB Lübeck for €400,000 on a two-year deal, but he will only make the move if the Bundesliga outfit avoid the drop.
Kaiserslautern, who have a similar deal with Udinese Calcio's Carsten Jancker, are currently fourth from bottom in the Bundesliga, four points ahead of TSV 1860 München with two matches to play.
The 25-year-old Zandi, who is of Iranian descent, was a key player for Lübeck as they reached the semi-final of the German Cup, where they lost to new champions SV Werder Bremen. Capped by Germany's Under-21 side, he spent two years previously in the Bundesliga with SC Freiburg, but played only ten matches before moving to Lübeck in 2002.
Kaiserslautern have also snapped up Freiburg youngster Jürgen Gjasula, 18, on a two-year deal for an undisclosed fee.
