Bangoura injury hits Lokeren

Sporting Lokeren St-Niklaas Waasland's Sambegou Bangoura could be out for three to four weeks.

Sporting Lokeren St-Niklaas Waasland's Sambegou Bangoura has sustained a hamstring injury that will keep him out for three to four weeks.

Injury woes
The Guinean forward suffered the injury on Saturday and was unable to play in Lokeren’s 1-0 defeat at R. Charleroi SC the following day.

Small squad
"We have very good players in Lokeren, but we do not have enough of them. Bangoura's injury is very unfortunate as our Czech midfielder Roman Vonasek and also Petter Rudi are both struggling to return to fitness. The club wants European qualification but then we have to have more good players”, said Lokeren coach Paul Put.

Serious blow
Bangoura's injury is a serious blow to Put's ambitions of improving on last season’s fifth spot in the Belgian first division, with the player scoring ten goals in 23 matches so far this season. Lokeren are currently lying in fifth spot and face R. Standard de Liège in a crucial match this weekend.
