Velislav Vutsov is to stay on as coach of Bulgarian Professional League side PFC Spartak Pleven despite offering his resignation after their defeat by PFC Marek on Saturday.
Poor form since break
The 1-0 home loss to lowly Marek was Pleven's second since the winter break and left them sixth in the league table, having secured just one point since the season resumed. Vutsov said after the match: "I am ready to leave if it is necessary. I am not happy with the way certain players performed in the last two matches."
However, Vutsov will now remain the position he has held since 2000, having taken Pleven to the 2000/01 second division championship by a wide margin. His father, Ivan, announced his intention to step down as the Bulgarian Football Union executive director a day before Velislav's own abortive resignation.
