Costa signs for 1860

TSV 1860 München have announced the signing of Brazilian defender Rodrigo Costa from FC Santos.

Bundesliga club TSV 1860 München have announced the signing of Brazilian defender Rodrigo Costa from FC Santos following an impressive ten-day trial at the club.

Free transfer
The 26-year-old will move on a free transfer to Munich and has signed a contract that will keep him at 1860 until 2003, with an option of a further two years.

First Brazilian
Costa, the first Brazilian to play at 1860, said: "This weekend, my wife will arrive over here and we will move into a flat in Munich soon. I will also start learning German."

Contract extended
Meanwhile, 1860 substitute goalkeeper Michael Hofmann has extended his contract with the club until 2005.
