CF Os Belenenses moved up two places to fifth in Portgual with a stunning 3-0 home win over third-placed FC Porto.
Verona scored the opening goal of the game in the 26th minute from close range after Carlos Secretário failed to clear a corner. The second came in the 73rd minute through midfield player César Peixoto. His 20-metre piledriver into the top left corner proved unstoppable for Porto goalkeeper Vítor Baía. Belenenses scored a late third through Cafú to seal a famous victory.
Porto, who are back in UEFA Champions League action next week at home against Panathinaikos FC, started with Deco on the bench for the first half and finished with ten men. Hélder Postiga was sent off for dissent in the last minute with his side trailing by three goals. The away defeat means Sporting Clube de Portugal and Boavista FC have a chance to extend their hold on the top two places in the first division.
