AS Roma won a thrilling match 3-2 at FC Internazionale Milano to progress 5-3 on aggregate to a Coppa Italia final against city rivals S.S. Lazio at their shared Stadio Olimpico.
Lazio booked their place in the 26 May decider in January, when Roma won the first leg of this tie 2-1. But after a three-month wait to travel to Milan the Giallorossi made sure of a record 17th final appearance and can now aim to be the first club to ten Coppa triumphs.
Inter had a blow just before kick-off when Esteban Cambiasso was injured in the warm-up, replaced by Jonathan – who put Inter ahead on away goals on 22 minutes after a brilliant team move. However, in the 57th minute Roma restored their aggregate lead with Mattia Destro's fine chip.
Destro scored again 14 minutes later after a swift counterattack and soon after Vasilis Torosidis produced an unstoppable half-volley to effectively seal victory. Ricardo Álvarez pulled one back for Inter but could not prevent a first all-Rome final.
