A second-half goal from striker Sossio Aruta enabled SP La Fiorita to beat SS San Giovanni in the final of the Coppa Titano, lift the trophy for a second straight season – and the third time in their history – and qualify for the 2013/14 UEFA Europa League.
Both sides had plenty of chances during an entertaining first half at the Stadio Olimpico in Serravalle but failed to convert them. Two minutes after the interval, however, Aruta broke the deadlock for the Montegiardino-based team. The 42-year-old – well known in Italy for his role in reality television show Campioni while he was playing for lower-league outfit AS Cervia in 2005/06 – previously scored the winning goal for SP Tre Fiori in the 2009/10 Coppa Titano final.
