Seydou Doumbia's audacious penalty secured the Russian Cup for PFC CSKA Moskva, as they outwitted FC Anji Makhachkala on penalties, to seal a domestic double.

After a 1-1 draw in Grozny, in which CSKA finished with ten men, Yuri Zhirkov's spot kick was saved before team-mate Jucilei fired over. Those misses allowed the Ivorian striker to chip deftly down the middle and earn his side a seventh Russian Cup, while ensuring Anji miss out on their first piece of major silverware.

It did not look as though penalties would be needed for Leonid Slutski's league champions, as they got off to a flying start. Just eight minutes in, Ahmed Musa's effort from a tight angle on the left squeezed past Vladimir Gabulov in the Anji goal.

However, that was as good as it got for CSKA. Igor Akinfeev prevented Samuel Eto'o from leveling things up shortly after on two occasions, as the side who finished the league campaign in third dominated for long periods.

The CSKA No1 was in fine form, but could do nothing to prevent Lassana Diarra's thunderbolt bringing the game level. With 74 minutes on the clock, the French midfielder rifled into the top corner from 25 metres. Things appeared to be going their way when Pontus Wernbloom was dismissed in the 87th minute, but the capital club held firm throughout extra time, before their efficiency from the spot proved the difference.

"Our emotions are fantastic, we are all happy," said Slutski after the game "The double is well deserved. The final was very difficult. Anji are a great team, one of the top teams in Russia and Europe. This is a victory for Igor Akinfeev who made several fantastic saves, and won the shoot-out on top of that. Now we feel great joy."
