Branislav Ivanović struck a first-half goal as Chelsea FC halted Manchester City FC's impressive run in fine style.

Manuel Pellegrini's team went into the game seeking to return to the Premier League summit by extending their perfect record at home this season to 12 games. Yet Chelsea burst out of the blocks and were well on top when Ivanović's sweet left-footed strike found the net on 32 minutes. Samuel Eto'o, Nemanja Matić and Gary Cahill all hit the woodwork as the Blues continued to look the better team.

David Silva and Stevan Jovetić had late chances, but Chelsea held on to move level on points with City in second, two points adrift of Arsenal FC. The result ends City's 100% home league record this term, and their 20-match unbeaten sequence in all competitions. It also means City fall five short of Manchester United FC's Premier League mark of scoring in 66 successive games.
