Mass exodus at Drnovice

FK Drnovice have lost their coach and nine first-team players after a deal with FC Príbram.

FK Drnovice have lost their coach and nine first-team players after an extraordinary deal with FC Príbram.

Jarušek bows out
Drnovice coach Karel Jarušek announced his decision to resign today after the struggling Czech side sold nine of their players to 1. liga rivals Príbram for €1.6m as they attempt to stave off bankruptcy. "I have lost my motivation," said Jarušek.

Tuma heads for Sparta
Vitezslav Tuma was immediately loaned to AC Sparta Praha until the end of season while three players - Pavel Pergl, René Formánek and Fabio Gomés - began training for Príbram's match against FK Viktoria Zizkov.

European ambition
Meanwhile, Vladimír Èáp, Petr Zemánek, Jirí Adamec, Jaroslav Schindler and Tomáš Randa will stay at Drnovice until the end of the season before joining Príbram in the summer. "We want to be back in Europe and more competition for places in the lineup will help us," said Príbram president Jaroslav Starka.

Financial problems
Drnovice are in financial insolvency, while their former owner Jan Gottwald is in prison and players have not been paid for two months. The team from the little village in southern Moravia is in 14th place in the league, only five points above the relegation zone.
