Nikolai Rusev has resigned as coach of Bulgarian Premier League newcomers PFC Nesebar just four days before the start of the season, to be replaced by Ivan Ilchev.
Rusev, formerly in charge of PFC Chernomorets Burgas, threatened to step down three weeks ago after not being offered a long-term contract, and the father of AEK Athens FC midfielder Ivan Rusev has now left Nesebar. His successor is a former player with Chernomorets - one of the sides replaced in the Premier League by Nesebar.
Baptism of fire
Nesebar will be competing in the top flight for the first time in 2004/05, and have a baptism of fire at the weekend when they begin their campaign at champions PFC Lokomotiv Plovdiv.
