Paris Saint-Germain resume their league programme tonight at FC Metz, looking to make it to 14 games unbeaten since the start of their Ligue 1 campaign. However, as discovers, they are not the only side to have refused to bow in domestic football this season.

Iceland: Stjarnan

Stjarnan claimed their first Icelandic championship in some style, making it through the whole of the 2014 campaign unbeaten, though it took an added-time goal in their final match of the season to knock FH Hafnarfjördur off the top of the table. "I still can't believe what happened this summer," said coach Rúnar Már Sigmundsson. "It is amazing not to lose a single league game."

Croatia: GNK Dinamo Zagreb

Croatian title winners for the last nine seasons, Dinamo are aiming for another record. Branko Ivanković's Dinamo went 28 league games undefeated from 2006–08 (all wins). Coach Zoran Mamić's charges are unbeaten in 16, and he said: "I've been with the club for ten years, as a player, sporting director and now coach, and this is our best team in that decade."

Fifth last term, Vardar had a major summer refit at the behest of Russian owner Sergei Samsonenko and have sparkled from the off. They have won all of their Skopje derbies and are six points clear of FK Rabotnicki at the top of the First League, but coach Sergei Andreev is not satisfied yet. "We must have a killer instinct and ruthlessly finish off our opponents, just like FC Bayern München do," the Russian said.

Wales: The New Saints FC

With an average return of almost three goals per game, the eight-time champions currently hold a nine-point lead over their nearest rivals, but the full-time side are not complacent. "I have said from the start of the season, I have got the best all-round squad I have had in three years," said manager Craig Harrison. "However, we don't want to rest there."

France: Paris Saint-Germain

Paris trail Ligue 1 leaders Olympique de Marseille by one point, but there is no question that they are enjoying a superb season – along with Chelsea FC, they are the only side left in the major leagues not to have lost in any competition this term. The French champions may return to action stronger still, with captain and centre-back Thiago Silva back from injury.
