Atlético start 2015 by defeating Levante

The first Liga games of 2015 yielded wins for Club Atlético de Madrid, RC Deportivo La Coruña, Sevilla FC and UD Almería, and Villarreal CF let slip a 2-0 lead at lowly Elche CF.

• Fernando Torres watches on as Club Atlético de Madrid defeat Levante UD 3-1.
• Atletico are third, one point behind leaders Real Madrid CF, who have two games in hand.
• Antoine Griezmann scores a header in each half, taking his tally to five goals in his last two matches.
• Diego Godín nods in the third late on, Nabil El Zhar having made it 2-1 by deflecting in Iván's drive.

Sevilla FC are up to fourth after a 1-0 home win against ten-man RC Celta de Vigo.
• Nicolas Pareja curls in a free-kick, Carles Planas having been dismissed for fouling Denis Suárez.
• Sixth-placed Villarreal CF squander a two-goal lead as they draw 2-2 at bottom club Elche CF.
• Two goals from Tomer Hemed, the second a penalty, earn UD Almería victory in Malaga.
RC Deportivo La Coruña edge Athletic Club 1-0.
