Wanchope wings his way to Málaga

Málaga CF have signed the Costa Rican international striker Paulo Wanchope from Manchester City FC.
Málaga CF have signed Costa Rican international striker Paulo Wanchope from Manchester City FC for an undisclosed fee.

Roldán gets his man
The 28-year-old has penned a two-year deal with the option of a third term. His arrival rewards the persistence of Málaga chairman Serafín Roldán who has been tracking the former Derby County FC and West Ham United FC player for several seasons.

'New experience'
The move ends an eight-year spell in England for Wanchope, but after making just 12 Premiership starts in the past two years, Wanchope felt it was time for a change. "I wanted to come to Spain to gain new experience and Málaga opened the door to me," he said. Málaga start the Primera División season with a trip to Club Atlético de Madrid on Sunday.
