Dusan Mitosevic, the Yugoslavian coach, has replaced the Macedonian Toni Savevski as coach of Cypriot side Apollon Limassol FC.
Mitosevic first came to Cyprus in the 1993-94 season when he became head coach of Anorthosis Famagusta FC and guided them to four Cypriot first division titles in succession. That was followed by a great run in the UEFA Cup in which they defeated the Spanish side Athletic Club Bilbao 2-0 and a 2-0 UEFA Champions League qualification win over Belgian side K. Lierse SK the following season. In the 1994-95 season they were narrowly eliminated from the Champions League, losing 1-0 on aggregate to Glasgow Rangers FC.
Last season Mitosevic took over as coach of AEK Larnaca FC but disagreements with the club's board allowed the Limassol club to come knocking at his door and after a meeting with the Apollon chairman, Lambros Christophi, the Yugoslavian signed a contract. Last season, Apollon did not have one of their best seasons, finishing tenth in the league and being eliminated in the early stages of the Cypriot Cup.
