Zimbru name Stan as new coach

Gabriel Stan is the new coach of Moldovan first division side FC Zimbru Chisinau.

Romanian Gabriel Stan has taken charge of FC Zimbru Chisinau, replacing Nikolai Mandricenco who has stepped down with five matches remaining this season.

Two-year contract
Stan, who has worked with several Romanian first division clubs in the last ten years, is best known leading FC Brasov to third place in 2001/02. He has signed a two-year contract at Zimbru and is bringing in another Romanian, Ferenc Baicu, as his assistant.

Championship conceded
Mandricenco resigned after with the championship already conceded to FC Sheriff Tiraspol, and Zimbru three points behind FC Nistru Otaci in the race for second place and a UEFA Cup slot.
