AEL assignment for Protasov

Former Olympiacos CFP coach Oleh Protasov has been named as the new coach of Cypriot side AEL Limassol FC.

Former Olympiacos CFP coach Oleh Protasov has taken charge of AEL Limassol FC.

Quick change
The ex-Soviet international has been installed at the Cypriot club just 24 hours after his predecessor, Belgian Henk Houwaart, was dismissed. Protasov has signed a two-year deal with AEL and has named Panos Sidiropoulos as his assistant.

Greek success
The former FC Dynamo Kyiv striker led Olympiacos to the Greek title in 2002/03 and into the UEFA Champions League the following season, but was fired by the Piraeus team in March 2004. AEL are currently joint-fifth in the Cypriot table following a 5-0 weekend defeat by champions APOEL FC.
