Former Olympiacos CFP coach Oleh Protasov has taken charge of AEL Limassol FC.

Quick change
The ex-Soviet international has been installed at the Cypriot club just 24 hours after his predecessor, Belgian Henk Houwaart, was dismissed. Protasov has signed a two-year deal with AEL and has named Panos Sidiropoulos as his assistant.

Greek success
The former FC Dynamo Kyiv striker led Olympiacos to the Greek title in 2002/03 and into the UEFA Champions League the following season, but was fired by the Piraeus team in March 2004. AEL are currently joint-fifth in the Cypriot table following a 5-0 weekend defeat by champions APOEL FC.
