FC Porto ensured they finished 2004 on top of the SuperLiga after a 1-1 draw at CS Marítimo on Wednesday.
The European and domestic champions have a one-point advantage over Sporting Clube de Portugal and SL Benfica, although they had to come from behind in Funchal. The opening goal came in the eleventh minute when Porto goalkeeper Vitor Baía's fumble allowed Pena to score with ease.
Porto fought hard to get back into the contest but found Marítimo in resilient mood. However, they managed an equaliser just after the half-hour mark when César Peixoto crossed from the left. Bosingwa headed the ball on and Luís Fabiano was on hand to put the ball over the line. In the second half, Hélder Postiga twice had chances to take all three points but was denied on each occasion.
