FC Lokomotiv Moskva have signed FC Torpedo Moskva and Russia defender Aleksei Bugayev.
The 23-year-old defender has signed a three-year deal with the option of a further 12 months. Bugayev has been capped six times by his country and made two appearances for Russia at UEFA EURO 2004™. The signing is another indication of the club's ambition for the 2005/06 UEFA Champions League, having already secured defender Vadim Evseev and captain Dmitri Loskov on new contracts.
Bugayev played 20 times for Torpedo in the 2004 season but could not turn down the chance to play for the new champions, who have been particularly busy since clinching the title at the start of the month. Lokomotiv have signed goalkeeper Aleksei Polyakov from FC Krylya Sovetov Samara, taken defender Sergei Omelyanchuk from FC Arsenal Kyiv and sealed a deal for Bugayev's Torpedo team-mate, striker Igor Lebedenko.
