SL Benfica are mourning the death of former international Domiciano Barrocal Gomes Cavém, who has passed away at the age of 72.

European glory
One of the club's best-ever players, the versatile Cavém won 18 caps for Portugal and twice lifted the European Champion Clubs' Cup with Benfica, in 1961 and again the following year. In addition, he helped the club claim five Portuguese league titles and five domestic cups, and scored 125 goals over 14 seasons with the Lisbon team.

Minute's silence
The Portuguese Football Federation has ordered a minute's silence ahead of all next weekend's games. Meanwhile, Benfica have asked the Liga de Clubes, the institution responsible for the Portuguese SuperLiga, for a minute's silence ahead of their next league match, against Boavista FC on 16 January.
