Galatasaray give Yakin a go

VfB Stuttgart midfield player Hakan Yakin has joined Galatasaray SK on loan until the end of the season.

VfB Stuttgart midfielder Hakan Yakin has joined Galatasaray SK on loan until the end of the season with an option for a permanent move.

Deal agreed
The Swiss international - of Turkish descent - flew to Istanbul yesterday after the transfer was agreed. The 27-year-old quickly finalised personal terms and after passing a medical this morning officially signed for the team second in the Turkish Superleague.

Disappointing time
Yakin, who impressed in FC Basel 1893's UEFA Champions League campaign of 2002/03, transferred to Stuttgart from the Swiss side last January but failed to make an impact. The UEFA EURO 2004™ participant played only nine matches for the Bundesliga club, including just one this season.
