Tottenham Hotspur FC have signed Belgian teenage midfield player Jonathan Blondel from R. Excelsior Mouscron.

Belgium's Under-19 captain
The 18-year-old, captain of Belgium's Under-19 team, has arrived on a four-year contract for an undisclosed fee, although press reports put the sum at €1.3m. Blondel helped Excelsior reach the Belgian Cup final last May, scoring an equaliser in their subsequent 3-1 defeat by Club Brugge KV, and also helped them secure a UEFA Cup place.

Third midfield signing
Blondel becomes the third midfield player signed by Spurs manager Glenn Hoddle in recent months after the arrival of Jamie Redknapp from Liverpool FC and Slovenian international Milenko Acimovic.
