Kezman completes Atlético switch

Club Atlético de Madrid have paid Chelsea FC €9m for Serbo-Montenegrin international forward Mateja Kezman.

The Chelsea FC forward Mateja Kezman has joined
Club Atlético de Madrid for €9m after agreeing terms and passing a medical in the Spanish capital today.

'Best supporters'
The 26-year-old Serbo-Montenegrin international has signed a contract running until 2008. "I'm delighted to sign as I've always been attracted to this club because of their philosophy and the fact they have the best supporters in the land," Kezman said.

Winning goal
Kezman moved to Chelsea for €7.5m last summer after scoring 105 goals in four seasons with PSV Eindhoven, but never fully settled at Stamford Bridge. The highlight of his stay in England was scoring the extra-time winner in the English League Cup final defeat of Liverpool FC.

Strike partner
"My experience in London was good, although I didn't really get many opportunities to play," he said. "I've always dreamed about playing in Spain and now I'm with a club who were once better than Chelsea and could be again within a few years. I hope my qualities will shine through and I can help take some of the pressure off Fernando Torres in Atlético's attack."

New coach
Kezman's new side finished eleventh in the Primera División last term and earlier this month appointed former CA Boca Juniors trainer Carlos Bianchi as coach.
