Dumitrescu handed Bacau post

Dumitru Dumitriu has been sacked by Romanian club FCM Bacau and replaced as coach by Ilie Dumitrescu.

Ilie Dumitrescu is set to sign a two-year contract to coach FCM Bacau following the release of former incumbent Dumitru Dumitriu.

UEFA Cup target
Dumitrescu recently stood down as coach of Romania's Under-21 side. He will be charged with guiding Bacau into next season's UEFA Cup despite the club only registering five points from eight games this term. Bacau lost again at the weekend, 2-0 at AFC Rapid Bucuresti

'Not upset'
"A coach lives only through results," Dumitriu said. "And I had only one victory, so I had only one argument in my favour. I am not upset and I hope that my succesor will obtain better results. There are good players here, but they haven't always given all they could."
