'Great things afoot'
The 22-year-old, who is in his second season at the De Kuip stadium since moving from ADO Den Haag in 2004, concluded negotiations with Feyenoord on Tuesday afternoon and is expected to put pen to paper on his new deal in the near future. "The contract we have agreed with Feyenoord shows a great deal of appreciation," said Castelen. "I am nowhere near finished here and there are great things afoot."
The quicksilver striker has already enjoyed a measure of success in Rotterdam, scoring ten goals in 30 games in his first term, while the current campaign has brought seven strikes in eleven matches, including one in Sunday's 3-2 win against AFC Ajax in which he also provided the assist for Dirk Kuijt's goal. Castelen has appeared eight times for the Netherlands, registering his only goal in a 2-0 FIFA World Cup qualifying defeat of Armenia last March.
