Carmel Busuttil has been voted as the best Maltese footballer of all time in a national poll.
Busuttil remains the all-time top scorer for the Maltese national side with 23 goals in 113 appearances for his country and he topped the poll ahead of former national stars Raymond Vella, Tony Nicholl and Salvino Schembri.
"I would like to thank all the sporting public who voted for me which enabled me to win this special award," said Busuttil, who at the age of 38 runs his own sports school on the island.
"It could be that I am so popular with the Maltese football fans because I was a striker in my days and used to score goals, in particular for the national team," he added.
