Jorginho breaks Sporting hearts

FC Porto may feel the Portuguese title is theirs for the taking after a late goal saw them earn a 1-0 win against Sporting Clube de Portugal in Lisbon.

A late goal from Jorginho saw FC Porto come out on top in their Liga tie at Sporting Clube de Portugale and edged Co Adriaanse's side closer to reclaiming the Portuguese title.

Decisive finish
Porto stretched their lead in the Portuguese Liga to five points after overcoming their main rivals Sporting at the Alvalade stadium. Adriaanse’s men travelled to Lisbon aware that a defeat would see their opponents climb to the top of the table with just four rounds remaining, but they eventually prevailed in a game with few goal opportunities.

Double dismissal
Sporting's Sá Pinto and Porto's Bosingwa were both shown second yellow cards within three second-half minutes and the game seemed destined for a goalless draw until Adriano set up a chance for Jorginho to score the all-important winner five minutes from time. Elsewhere in Portugal, a 64th minute goal from Cadu was enough to ensure UD Leiria a 1-0 home win against struggling Vitória SC.
