Sporting Clube de Portugal defender Beto has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury.
Sporting Clube de Portugal defender Beto has been ruled out for the rest of the season with suspected ruptured knee ligaments.
The Portuguese international twisted his left leg in a game against Vitória Guimarães at FC Porto's Das Antas stadium, where Guimarães are playing their home games.
'A serious injury'
"What we can say at this moment is that Beto got a serious injury which probably damaged the ligaments on his left knee," said Sporting doctor Gomes Pereira. "I've made my diagnosis and everything points that way, but I can't confirm this information without an exam."
Beto will have a scan tomorrow after which Pereira will make a further announcement. The player was expected to be among the group to play against Scotland in Braga on 20 November.
