Ex-Spain coach José Antonio Camacho is poised to take over at SL Benfica this weekend after talks with the club.
The 47-year-old will take charge for the rest of the season with the option of staying another year. Camacho will be at the Estádio da Luz tomorrow, when Benfica take on SC Braga in the Super Liga led by caretaker coach Fernando Chalana.
World Cup woe
Benfica opted for Camacho, who resigned after Spain's defeat by the Korean Republic in the 2002 FIFA World Cup quarter-finals, ahead of other candidates including Argentinian Carlos Bianchi and the Brazilians Ricardo Gomes and Vanderlei Luxemburgo.
