Barkoglu escapes ban

Akratitos FC player Giorgios Barkoglu has been cleared of taking a banned substance.

The Akratitos FC midfield player Giorgios Barkoglu has been cleared of doping after testing positive for a banned substance last month.

Flu remedy
Traces of ephedrine had been found in the 24-year-old's system following the home fixture against FC PAOK Thessaloniki on 27 October. However, Barkoglu protested his innocence after blaming the test on a flu remedy he had taken and provided evidence from his doctor to support his case.

No further action
Greek football authorities have accepted his version of events and no further action will be taken. After eight matches, Akratitos are 13th in the 16-club Alpha Ethniki.
