Besiktas JK continue to lead the way in the Super League following a busy weekend of action in Turkey.
The leaders overcame the challenge of Bursaspor on Saturday thanks to a 66th-minute goal from Ronaldo Guiaro, but were forced to work hard for the points by a side hovering just above the relegation zone. Ronaldo did the damage with a fine finish from Daniel Pancu's corner but Bursaspor almost equalised five minutes later when Ender Alkan's shot hit the crossbar.
Galatasaray SK are still just two points behind Besiktas in second after securing a narrow 1-0 win against Samsunspor in Samsun on Sunday. Ayhan Akman scored the only goal of the match eleven minutes after half-time following a clever pass from Hasan Sas.
Gençlerbirligi keep pace
Third-placed Gençlerbirligi SK maintained their title challenge with a 5-1 victory over Kocaelispor. Ümit Bozkurt broke the deadlock with a 30-metre strike after 21 minutes, only for Zdravko Lazarov to equalise with a penalty four minutes later. Veysel Cihan restored Gençlerbirligi's lead on 42 minutes, before Souleymane Youla scored twice and Veysel added his second to complete the scoring.
Fenerbahçe SK stay fourth following their thrilling 3-2 home win against Trabzonspor. The hosts fell behind to Fatih Tekke's 13th-minute opener, but a sensational hat-trick from Tuncay Sanli saw Fenerbahçe take control. Hüseyin Çimsir did briefly level the scores at 2-2 in the 64th minute, but Tuncay was in no mood to give in and capped a memorable performance with a 73rd-minute header to secure the points.
Istanbulspor AS leapfrogged Adanaspor AS following a 3-0 away victory over their mid-table rivals. Musa Kus opened the scoring for after eleven minutes with a magnificent 25-metre effort and Selçuk Aydin made it 2-0 three minutes later. Andre Kona then deflected in Faruk Bayar's cross to claim his 100th goal in Turkish football in the final minute of a pulsating encounter.
Altay fight back
Altay GK had to come from behind twice to earn a share of the spoils in their 2-2 draw against Diyarbakirspor in Izmir. Ramazan Tunç gave the visitors the lead after 16 minutes when Altay defence failed to clear a corner, but the hosts levelled seven minutes after the break through Ümit Inal. Deniz Kolgu restored Diyarbakirspor's lead four minutes later, before Ümit Inal scored his second of the night to conclude a breathless contest.
The games involving Denizlispor, Gaziantepspor, Elazigspor, Göztepe, Malatyaspor and MKE Ankaragücü were all postponed by the Turkish Football Association after heavy snowfall.
