Cypriot businessman Georgos Pappas has returned as chairman of first division side Apollon Limassol FC.
Back at the helm
Pappas, who resigned two summers ago to make way for Lambros Christophi, replaces Sofoclis Sofocleous who stepped down last month. The new man responded to pressure from Apollon shareholders to resume his interest in the club and said: "
It is important that I have the backing of everyone at Apollon. Everyone's support will help me settle quickly back into the club."
Apollon lie fifth in the Division A table following their recent 5-0 victory against Alki FC. But despite winning the Cypriot Cup in 2001/02, they have struggled to maintain the success they enjoyed in the 1990s, when they were twice league champions.
