Peres leaves Belenenses

Portuguese Super Liga side CF Os Belenenses have parted company with Brazilian coach Marinho Peres.

Portuguese Super Liga side CF Os Belenenses have parted company with Brazilian coach Marinho Peres.

Seven without victory
The Lisbon side currently lie eighth in the league but the club’s latest defeat by Clube Académica de Coimbra marked their seventh match without victory and the coach offered his resignation at a meeting with the board of directors.

Second spell
Peres began his second spell in charge at the club two-and-a-half years ago, helping the team establish themselves in the top half of the Super Liga.

Caretaker coach
Current assistant coach Nené will take over as caretaker, although Fernando Santos and Manuel José, both recent candidates to take over the Portuguese national side, have been linked with Peres’s old role.
