English angle for LevadiaKalev

An English player has joined FC LevadiaKalev Tallinn's squad as they build for the new season.

Estonian Meistriliiga runners-up FC LevadiaKalev Tallinn's new Italian head coach Franco Pancheri has made several new signings, the most significant that of Richard Barnwell on a three-year contract.

Wattsfield product
The Englishman is a 23-year-old forward, who joins Pancheri's squad from promoted side MC Tallinn. Barnwell is a product of Wattsfield FC's youth system and played for amateur league sides Milnthorpe Corinthians and Kendal Town FC, before moving to the United States. The tall forward played a part in MC Tallinn's promotion campaign from the second division, and hit a hat-trick against JK Tammeka Tartu in the promotion play-off to condemn the first division team to relegation.

Foreign signings
During the winter and at the recent training camp in Turkey, LevadiaKalev gave trials to several foreign players and most of them are set to join the club. Left-sided midfield player Alessandro Rottoli from Italian amateur side US Cisanese and Latvian defender Aleksandrs Lasko from FHK Liepajas Metalurgs have agreed terms with the LevadiaKalev, who were runners-up in Estonia last season under their former name FC Levadia Maardu.

Inter experience
Rottoli is a 21-year-old product of Internazionale FC's academy who is trying to get back to top-level football after a serious knee injury almost finished his career. Former Inter youth coach Pancheri knows the player well and has trust in him.

Young talent
LevadiaKalev have been the busiest team in the transfer market this January, also signing several Estonian youth internationals to develop at their academy. Estonian Under-19 internationals Ats Purje and Taavi Tammo joined the club from SC Real Tallinn while another youth international, Dmitri Kruglov, has joined from Tallinna Jalgpalli Klubi. The 16-year-old starlet Miroslav Ryszkiewicz - of Polish origin - has also agreed to move to LevadiaKalev, but he might be loaned back to his original club FC Ajax Tallinn.
