AEK Athens FC have made centre-back Traianos Dellas a happy man after offering him a new contract that will keep him with the capital club until summer 2009.
The 31-year-old Greek international said: “I am happy to continue at AEK Athens. Me and my team-mates will help our side to go a step further. I have faith in the work that we are doing." Dellas first played for AEK between 1999 and 2001 and has been back with the club since leaving AS Roma in summer 2005. AEK finished runners-up in Greece this season, meaning Dellas will have to help his club overcome a third qualifying round tie in August to reach the UEFA Champions League group stage. He played three times in this season's competition as AEK failed to reach the knockout phase.
