Having swooped for Roberto Carlos, Turkish champions Fenerbahçe SK have added another left-back to their ranks with the signing of Ankaraspor AŞ's Wéderson.
The 25-year-old, who gained Turkish citizenship in the winter break and changed his name to Gökçek Vederson, has agreed a three-year contract. "I am so happy to be at such a big club," he said. "I am so excited about playing with Roberto Carlos next season and I hope I can also play for Turkey." A free-scoring defender, he spent three seasons in the Turkish capital with Ankaraspor. Earlier this month, veteran full-back Roberto Carlos agreed to move to Turkish football when his eleven-year stay at Real Madrid CF concludes this summer.
Meanwhile, the country's disciplinary authorities have ordered Galatasaray SK to play five matches behind closed doors next season after disturbances during the 19 May derby against Fenerbahçe SK which the champions won 2-1. In addition, Galatasaray have been fined €110,000.
