Fenerbahçe SK have signed Colin Kazim-Richards from English club Sheffield United FC on a €1.9m transfer to help fill the gap left by Tuncay Şanlı's departure to Middlesbrough FC.
The 20-year-old London-born Kazim-Richards, who has a Turkish mother, had made 27 appearances in the Premier League, scoring once, after moving to Sheffield from third-tier outfit Brighton and Hove Albion FC last August. To continue his meteoric rise, Kazim-Richards made his international debut for Turkey as a substitute in a 0-0 friendly draw against Brazil ten days ago.
Kazim-Richards signed his new deal after passing a medical in Istanbul and will hope to help Zico's side reach the 2007/08 UEFA Champions League with the Turkish champions entering in August's third qualifying round. He is the latest new recruit at Fenerbahçe following the arrivals of left-backs Wéderson and Roberto Carlos while their Brazilian compatriot Alex has committed for another two years having impressed in midfield for the previous three campaigns.
