Debrecen claim third Super Cup

Two first-half goals from Hungary midfielder Balázs Dzsudzsák helped Debreceni VSC to a 4-1 aggregate win against Budapest Honvéd FC and their third Hungarian Super Cup on the spin.

Fine strikes
Dzsudzsák's double, with both goals coming from long range inside the first 20 minutes, and a third from Zoltán Kiss before half-time meant the champions were always in control of the contest. A 1-1 stalemate in the first leg at Honvéd last Wednesday had meant honours were even going into the second leg but the hosts started in blistering fashion and never looked back once they had taken the lead on the night. The new Hungarian season gets under way this coming weekend while Debrecen are also looking forward to the UEFA Champions League when they enter in the second qualifying round against either Linfield FC or IF Elfsborg. Honvéd, meanwhile, are gearing up for a UEFA Cup first qualifying round first leg at FC Nistru Otaci this Thursday.
