Two former FC Arges-Dacia Pitesti players have returned to boost the club's battle against relegation.

Four signings
Strikers Constantin Barbu and Ion Vladoiu, both of whom worked their way through the Arges academy, have returned to the club, who have also signed left-back Dorin Semeghin and goalkeeper Stefan Preda from FC National Bucuresti on six-month contracts.

Barbu's travels
Barbu has signed an 18-month deal with his first club. He originally left for National, where he won the Romanian title in 1998/99. Now 32, Romania's top scorer in 1997/98 has also played for Samsung Blue Wings in the Korean Republic and CD Numancia in Spain.

Serious injury
In addition, the striker scored two goals in three games for the national side to add to the 84 he struck in 143 games in the Romanian top flight. He has returned to Romania after a serious injury ruled him out of Numancia's plans, and has not played a competitive game since March 2002.

German experience
Meanwhile, the 34-year-old Vladoiu has also returned to Arges. Having played for FC Steaua Bucuresti, FC Rapid Bucuresti and FC Dinamo Bucuresti, he moved on to German clubs 1. FC Köln and Offenbacher Kickers 1901.

Second comeback
In that time he won 28 caps for Romania, including appearances at the 1994 FIFA World Cup finals and EURO 96™, although more recently he was playing in Romania for FC Univeritatea Craiova. He briefly played for Arges in 2000/01.

Back to Arges
"I don't want to say that I'll retire from here, because I can never know what will happen," he said after signing a six-month contract. "The fact is that now, towards the end of my career, I will play for the club where I began my career."
