Atalanta BC have signed Portuguese international midfielder Costinha on a three-year contract after he agreed to end his time at Club Atlético de Madrid.

Atalanta BC have signed Portuguese international midfielder Costinha on a three-year contract after he agreed to end his time at Club Atlético de Madrid earlier today.

Injury
The 32-year-old Portugal international, who is currently receiving treatment for a calf injury sustained during last week's friendly match against Getafe CF, joined the Madrid side last season from FC Dinamo Moskva. Prior to his move to Russia he spent four years at AS Monaco FC before winning the 2002/03 UEFA Cup and 2003/04 UEFA Champions League during his four seasons with FC Porto, where he played 108 league games and scored 13 goals. Costinha, who has 53 caps and two goals for Portugal, played 24 league games for Atlético last term.
