Everton FC's Alessandro Pistone could miss the rest of the season after being told he needs a hernia operation.
Former Italian Under-21 international Pistone will undergo hernia repair surgery in the next 48 hours, ruling him out of the next four to six weeks of Everton's campaign. "We were informed last night that Sandro will require surgery," Everton manager David Moyes said. "The operation will take place in the next day or two and we hope to have him back among us as soon as possible."
Pistone, who has made 13 Premiership appearances this term, is likely to miss at least six of the Merseyside club's remaining eight league games. Everton are fifth in the table and in the hunt for a European place. Pistone previously played for Internazionale FC and Newcastle United FC.
