Udinese Calcio have lost Alberto for at least a month, but Nestor Sensini has signed a contract extension.
Alberto had the operation after failing to recover from a twisted knee he suffered in the away match at Reggina Calcio on 2 March. The 28-year-old will be a loss to Udinese, having played 21 league games this term, scoring once. Alberto is in his fourth season with the Friuli team, who are in seventh place in Serie A.
Meanwhile, Udinese's veteran defender Nestor Sensini has signed a contract extension, keeping him at the club until 2004. The 36-year-old former Argentinian international rejoined Udinese from Parma AC last summer, having played for the Bianconeri between 1989 and 1993.
