Hermann rewarded by Vaduz

Liechtenstein's UEFA Cup regulars FC Vaduz have extended the contract of coach Heinz Hermann until summer 2009 as they aim for promotion to the Swiss Super League.

Coach Heinz Hermann has extended his expiring contract with Liechtenstein’s only professional football club, FC Vaduz, until summer 2009.

Promotion aim
Vaduz, UEFA Cup regulars thanks to their domination of the Liechtenstein Cup,  play in the second-tier Swiss Challenge League and currently lie second. Hermann, 49, was appointed to the Rheinpark Stadium helm at the start of the season having previously coached SR Delémont and been on the FC Basel 1893 staff.

Cup run
This season FC Vaduz fell in the UEFA Cup first qualifying round to FC Dinamo Tbilisi but they got a stage further in the previous three campaigns, only losing on away goals to Basel in 2006/07. In the Liechtenstein Cup, which they have won for the last ten years and 36 times in 62 editions, they play FC Ruggell in the semis on 1 April, having beaten that team 8-0 in the 2007 final.
