Club Atlético de Madrid opened up a five-point gap in the race for the final UEFA Champions League berth with a 3-0 success against RC Recreativo de Huelva.
Midfielder Ignacio Camacho, making only his seventh appearance for the club, was the toast of the Estadio Vicente Calderón as he scored his first goals for the capital club – one in either half – a day before his 18th birthday to leave Recreativo nervously looking over their shoulder as they bid for Primera División survival.
Camacho gave his side a half-time advantage when he beat goalkeeper Stefano Sorrentino to a corner and headed in the opening goal. Another teenager added the second, although the name of Agüero is much more familiar to followers of Spanish football. The Argentinian striker scored his 18th league goal of a sensational season when he tapped in from close range following some poor defending from the visitors after 55 minutes.
And with a quarter of an hour to play, Camacho completed a fairy-tale story by producing a crisp finish after the Recreativo defence had failed to clear sufficiently. Real Racing Club Santander can reduce the gap to fourth-placed Atlético back to two points with a home victory over struggling Real Murcia CF on Sunday. Real Zaragoza beat RC Deportivo La Coruña 1-0 in Saturday's late game to move up to 16th in the table.
