Dumitrescu departs from Bacau

Ilie Dumitrescu has resigned as coach of relegation-threatened Divizia A side FCM Bacau.

Ilie Dumitrescu has resigned as coach of Divizia A side FCM Bacau.

Significant loss
Dumitrescu's decision comes less than 24 hours after his side suffered a 1-0 home defeat at the hands of fellow strugglers CS Otelul Galati. Bacau face a decisive game away to FC Brasov in the final round of league matches on Wednesday.

Brief reign
Dumitrescu, who was in charge of the national Under-21 side last autumn, took charge at Bacau after the ninth round of matches, replacing Dumitru Dumitriu. However, he was unable to improve the side's fortunes, as Bacau slipped deeper into relegation trouble following defeats against FC UTA Arad, FC Farul Constanta and Otelul Galati. Bacau currently lie in 13th position in the standings, the first relegation play-off place.
