Club Atlético Osasuna goalkeeper Juan Carlos Unzué has announced his retirement from football at the age of 36.
Unzué first appeared for Osasuna 1986/87. Two years later he moved to FC Barcelona but found first-team opportunities hard to come by, prompting a switch to Sevilla FC in 1990/91. In seven seasons Unzué made 222 appearances for Sevilla, before spending two years with both CD Tenerife and Real Oviedo prior to returning to Osasuna in 2001/02.
Having spent most of the Primera División season on the substitute's bench, Unzué will start both of Osasuna's final two games with the club's top-flight status assured. "I would like to thank all the team for the confidence they have shown in me," said Unzué. "It is the right moment to finish my career;
I am proud of what I have achieved."
